SiC members participated in a study session for an hour and a half prior to meeting at Sun Lanes for a couple of hours of bowling - We had to get some work done before we could play! Members enjoyed two hours of bowling, and dancing and singing their hearts out while trying to knock some pins down!
SiC held a "Meet and Greet" event for all NMSU students to get to know the club, club members, and club officers. At the event, there was games and food for everyone! Also, there was the chance for one lucky student to win a Google Chrome water bottle if they were able to guess the correct amount of M&M's in a jar. Some of the CS faculty even joined us for Just Dance on the Wii!
SiC participated in the Club Rush event at NMSU this Spring! All campus clubs were invited to host tables in the student union building to raise awareness about their clubs and to recruit members. SiC announced upcoming events and encouraged students to have their picture taken with our Android! In total, we reached over 200 students!
SiC members organized a Thanksgiving Feast in 2012. All chapter members were encouraged to come enjoy a full turkey dinner (complete with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, cranberries, rolls, and more!), dessert, and game night.
Google, in association with SiC, hosted a Halloween bash for all NMSU students on Halloween night in 2012. Attendees were encouraged to come in costume and to enter the costume contest. Our male winner was dressed as a bottle of Sriracha Sauce, and our female winner was dressed as Link! Google, in association with SiC, hosted a Minute to Win It event for all computer science students on September 26, 2012. Students got into teams and were challenged to complete 10 different tasks, having 60 seconds to complete each task. All participants were provided with dinner, including Android shaped sugar cookies and Google-colored M&Ms. The winning team received Google prizes, and one lucky student won an Amazon gift card in a raffle.
Google, in association with SiC, hosted a scavenger hunt for all computer science students on April 25, 2012. Students ran around campus solving clues and completing SUPER FUN Google-related activities. The winning teams, those that completed the scavenger hunt in the fastest time, received Google prizes and an Amazon gift card.
